Join Tanya Louise Workman as we unplug the headphones in her Members’ Gallery installation and let her voice recordings uncoil and unfurl aloud.
Part artist talk, Tanya will share how the audio recordings in her installation came to be, including the process of allowing herself to listen in to what was behind her self portraits.
But also, we’ll let this final afternoon of the installation be a space for you to tune in, as we put aside some time to explore and share what lies inside and outside the frame for all of us -- in our photographs, in our bodies, and in the stories we contain.
So, bring a journal and a pen, and perhaps one or two of your own photographs. (Yoga mats are also encouraged for anyone who wants to sit on the gallery floor.)

About the exhibition:
"I went into the attic to look for photographic possibilities and instead encountered myself — in the shadows and in the marks on the walls, and, eventually, baring what needed to be seen.” – Tanya Louise Workman
What happens when you reluctantly turn the lens on yourself?
What does it mean to be seen and heard?
What is silenced by perception?
In this first solo installation from interdisciplinary artist Tanya Louise Workman, suspended images on backlit film are paired with fragments from intimate audio diaries. While many of the images arose during a “Personal Story” photography workshop, the voice recordings came later, as Workman began to question what her photographs really communicated – to others and to herself – and what exists for all of us both inside and outside the frame.
