About the exhibition:
"I went into the attic to look for photographic possibilities and instead encountered myself — in the shadows and in the marks on the walls, and, eventually, baring what needed to be seen.” – Tanya Louise Workman
What happens when you reluctantly turn the lens on yourself?
What does it mean to be seen and heard?
What is silenced by perception?
In this first solo installation from interdisciplinary artist Tanya Louise Workman, suspended images on backlit film are paired with fragments from intimate audio diaries. While many of the images arose during a “Personal Story” photography workshop, the voice recordings came later, as Workman began to question what her photographs really communicated – to others and to herself – and what exists for all of us both inside and outside the frame.
Installation views coming soon.
